Q:  What is One Card?

A:  The One Card is your multi-purpose official NSU ID Card.

Your One Card is an access key and must be presented to enter numerous campus facilities, attend special events, obtain services, and utilize the library. Your card and related accounts are non-transferable.

Your NSU ID Card can also be used with three distinct accounts that you can activate. The accounts currently linked to the NSU ID card are the NSU Meal Plan Account, Speed Demon Dollars, and Purple Power Checking Account. These accounts are not co-mingled and represent three distinct accounts with the university or its affiliates.

Q:  Can I loan my ID Card to anyone?

A:  If your ID Card is given to anyone, the individual whose identity is represented on the card assumes all financial and/or criminal liability for the card's misuse.

Q:  Does an ID Card cost anything?

A: No, not for your first card. The replacement fee for lost or stolen cards is $20.00. There are some exceptions: Students, faculty or staff whose identification number changes after receiving their initial card or legal name changes (e.g. marriage or divorce) are exempt from the $20.00 charge. Also, if your card is stolen and you are able to produce a copy of your police report, the $20.00 replacement charge will be waived.

Q:  What happens if I lose my ID Card?

A:  If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately in person at the One Card Office during our business hours, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m Monday - Thursday and 8:00 - 12:00 on Friday. You can also place a hold on your account through the website http://my.nsula.edu/

Q:  I hate my picture, can I have another one made?

A:  Retakes, once the card is printed, are not allowed unless the picture is unusable due to closed eyes or other problems. If you really must have another picture made, a replacement can be obtained through the lost ID process, with its normal replacement fee of $20.00.

Q:  What should I do if my ID Card does not work?

A:  If, for any reason, your ID Card does not work, bring it to the One Card office so that we can evaluate the problem.

Q:  What are One Card office hours?

A:  The One Card office hours are Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday from 8:00 - 12:00. Our telephone number is (318) 357-5131.

Q:  What happens to my old card after my replacement is issued?

A:  Your old card becomes inactive once a new is printed. Old cards cannot be reactivated FOR ANY REASON.

Q:  What happens if my ID Card is damaged?

A:  Damaged cards fall under the same replacement procedures as a lost card. Your ID Card should be treated with care. Stickers, holes, creases, worn magnetic stripes, etc. can render the card inoperable. The card should not be left in direct sunlight, and should be kept away from magnetic fields and other bankcards, which contain magnetic stripes. These simple precautions will protect the card and its value.

Q:  I am a new student. When will I get my NSU ID Card?

A:  Incoming freshman who attend a Freshman Connection session will get their I.D. during that time. Students can also come to the One Card office after they have been admitted to the university and registered for their classes. Government issued identification is required for an I.D. to be made.

Q:  Will the One Card have my social security number printed on it?

A:  No. Northwestern uses a student identification number instead of social security numbers to identify students.

Q:  Who has access to my picture?

A:  No one has access to your picture. In the case of an extreme emergency, or under court order or subpoena the Dean of Students may authorize a necessary use of your photo.

Q:  How do I open a Speed Demon Account?

A:  By coming to the One Card office located in St. Denis and filling out an application form. An initial deposit of $25.00 is required. The form may be downloaded from our website located under the "Forms" tab and mailed to the One Card office.
